The Bugle is distributed house to house between Umgeni River in Durban North and Tugela River on the North Coast, comprising the Sugar Coast and Dolphin Coast. This is the place for finding music for bugle and trumpet, without valves. The Bugle is a tabloid format weekly community magazine that has been in circulation for 25 years and has a print order of 20 000 copies per week. There is an entire repertoire of marches, waltzes, and other entertaining music written for valve-less horns.

We are really pleased and will be proudly playing our bugles when we tour the Somme this summer. One of our members purchased a bugle for his son - who has only recently joined the band, as a Christmas present. Not only does John Packer supply excellent instruments and accessories, it also provides a first-class back up and support service. The bugle has a warm resounding tone and having the adjustable slider on the shank allows one to ensure the bugles can all be tuned at the same pitch - the bugle comes supplied in a study carrying case. The musicians of RAN Band Tasmania are very passionate and forward thinking, with repertoire ranging. We were delighted with every aspect of the instrument, and having given them a real good test at such high-profile locations as the Thiepval Memorial (where we were featured on BBC Breakfast TV), Delville Wood, the Menin Gate and Tyne Cot, I have no hesitation in recommending this bugle. Due to our growth in numbers, we had been on the lookout for a number of good quality bugles at a reasonable price, consequently, having seen the JP Bb Bugle advertised on the John Packer website several of us decided to purchase a bugle each. The show is a weekly eruption of comedic comment about the world’s most, and least, important news stories. Our bugle band, which was formed in 2012, plays traditional marches from around the time of the Great War and has toured the Somme and the Ypres Salient.
